Search Saint Anges Ile Bonaventure:

A Mission at Ile Bonaventure / Bonaventure Island dedicated to the Holy Guardian Angels operated 1857-1957 on land donated by George Aubert, native of Jersey.

The chapel was erected by William Sheehan. The cemetery is located immediately east of the site of the former chapel, demolished in 1947. The oldest section of the cemetery is the northern side. Spouses wee buried together. A central cross was placed towards the centre of the cemetery to be viewed exiting from the chapel step. The small area of the cemetery was filled by 1925.

The cemetery was augmented by a further enlargement to the south, again on le clos Aubert, by purchase after 1901. In the augmentation section, burials were undertaken after 1901, most here 1925 to 1957.

Certain markers were carved in wood, infant graves often were marked by crosses only. A few monuments in beach cement have disintegrated, other monuments have been lost.
