Location: Between CR 25 and Lakeland Addition. Along north bank of Mud Run. On knoll. Surrounded by waters of Senecaville Lake (when it is full). Accessible only at lower water levels. Stones: 6 readable. Access: Wall complete
Visited the cemetery in January, water level was down. We approached it from the first dirt road to the left on Mud Run Rd after leaving Rt 147. There are a couple of large oil tanks on the top of the first hill. If you have a truck with All Terrain tires or 4 wheel drive you can follow that dirt road about another 1/8th of a mile to a clearing on the hill. The cemetery is about a 200 yard walk directly west from that clearing down near the lake. There are briars, so take a machete or something to knock down the briars. The Bridge on 147 that crosses the lake is in direct line with the knoll. Look at the satellite picture and you will see the clearing on the hill where you will begin a path to the family cemetery.
The cemetery is located in Seneca Township, Noble County, Ohio, and is # 15721 (Ephraim Bates Jr Cemetery) in “Ohio Cemeteries 1803-2003”, compiled by the Ohio Genealogical Society.
