Located north of Harriettsville on SR-145, right on T-237, up a very steep hill to the old Vance homestead, in which Rev. Jensen resides at the present time, 1990; because of strip-mining, it is now a "dead-end" road. Cemetery can be seen from the house.

In 1845 Isaac Vance, son of William Vance and Sarah Moore of Malaga Township, Monroe Count, purchased 147 acres of land from William Philpot in Section 18, in Elk Township, which was at that time in Monroe County: when the county lines changed in 1851, it became Noble Coonty. Isaac married in 1845, Elizabeth Matchett. This particular cemetery is on the same land, on a high ridge in a wooded area.

Copied from Monroe County records , Vol VI, page 6 by Catherine Foreaker Fedorchak.

The cemetery is listed as cemetery 12 (Vance Cemetery) in Noble County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions Book IX Elk Township, published by Noble County Chapter – OGS, Caldwell, Ohio, 1995.
