The cemetery covers 26 acres, with about 16 acres developed and 10 acres wooded. It was established in 1867 and reorganized for perpetual care in 1931. Gravestones date back to 1840 when it was used as a private cemetery. The cemetery is a non-profit organization run by a nine member board. All funding comes from the sale of burial/cremation sites, foundation sales and donations.

The Cemetery has a new circular 90-niche Columbarium (sections H and J), made of black and gray granite. Each niche holds two cremations. Plans are underway to create a Columbarium Garden. Real or artificial flowers are allowed on east side of monuments as long as not more than 2 feet is used for the combination monument/flowers. No stones or fences permitted. Trees or shrubs must be approved by the Sexton before planting. No flowers or memorials can be left at the Columbarium, the Cemetery is solely responsible for maintaining the grounds there. A parade and celebration is held annually on Memorial Day. The VFW and Brandon Township buy and place a small flag on each veterans grave and place large flags along the cemetery roadways which are flown on Sunday and Monday of Memorial weekend.
