St. Peter's Lutheran (Freidenthal) Cemetery is located in the Nisku Industrial Business Park, one mile north of Secondary Road 625 and the Sparrow Drive Service Road, on the west side.
The cemetery is affiliated with the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, currently situated at 5012-51 Ave, Leduc, Alberta. The history of the church goes back to the 1890's when large numbers of German – speaking people, many of the Lutheran faith, emigrated from Vohlynia, Russia and parts of Europe to the Nisku, Alberta area.
The first services were held in the home of Karl Lechelt, a beginning that would lay the groundwork for the eventual establishment of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in 1900 on land that was purchased from Mrs. Ross. The founding families were Burghardt, Lechelt, Marinoski, Paul, Schneider and Winkelman.
A cairn - 'Jesus, the Rock of our Salvation' - was erected at the cemetery site June 1999 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1900 founding of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
