"Behind the garden and across "Dry Creek" is the graveyard where lie Major William Cunningham (Revolutionary Aide-de-camp to General Washington) and his daughter Nancy. Near by are the graves of Colonel William Saunders, an officer in the Revolution and a member from North Carolina of the
Society of the Cincinnati, and Major Richard Alexander, an officer under Jackson in the war of 1812."
