St. George's Churchyard, originally attached to St. George's Chapelry and in use from 1828-1867, disappeared in 1887 when a new St. George's Church was built over the top of it, the graveyard thus becoming the vaults of the Church and the gravestones used in the floor of the Church. The Church itself became redundant in 1959 and was used for many years as a musical museum. In 2016 when the site was undergoing redevelopment into luxury flats, the vaults and their contents were rediscovered. All the remains have now been relocated to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey - Plot 87.
