Add PhotosTyner said "The cemetery for the Orphan's Asylum of the Cherokee Nation was located about 200 feet north of where Main Street is now. In the time the school was in existence, this was the principal burial place for school children who had no relatives and others. Fannie Whiteday, about 90 years old, went to the school at the Asylum, and tells that Hadden Street was built (right) thru the cemetery without any regard for the graves."
Identified by Tyner in the American Indian Institute's "Our People And Where They Rest," (OPAWTR) James W. Tyner and Alice Tyner Timmons, University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK. 1969, Volume 1, p. 105. (Library of Congress No. QE99-C5-T97) Their information is given here as a historical reference and is presented "as is." Their book, like many such cemetery listing compilations, may contain errors. As with any genealogical information, this is merely a "source" and should be considered as such. It falls upon the end-user to verify the accuracy. Most volumes and maps are available for online viewing.
Unknown if any remnants of the cemetery would be found today.
