Memorial pictured is not a cenotaph. According to Lyles family descendants and epitaph on memorial, this is the grave site of Aromanus, Ephraim, and John Lyles. Near the colonial-era crossing of the Broad River known as Lyles ford. These individuals were said to be the first settlers in the midlands of South Carolina in 1745, in what was still hostile territory.

However, there is a cenotaph at Rock Creek Baptist Church cemetery at Pearson Rd (S-20-99), just off of SC-34, 3.86 miles away (straight line), honoring Aromanus and Ephraim.

This burial site is 0.24 mi due east of the Broad River (about 1275'); or, 1 mi SE of Lyles ford. Lyles ford is just below the south end of the Henderson Island in the Broad River. Also, per the 1876 map of Fairfield County, there were 4 Lyles homestead sites near this cemetery at that time: Col Lyles, Col Lyles Jr, Mrs Lyles, and Lyles.

These Lyles individuals, above, may or may not be related to this cemetery. There is also a "Major Thomas Lyles cemetery" only 3.6 miles away almost due east.

Further, this Lyles Family burial site is ~3.5 miles N of the present day SC-34 bridge over the Broad River, which links Fairfield and Newberry Counties. GPS lat/lon is not published herein because the site is very remote and deemed not advisable to attempt to reach.
