Search Desertmore Graveyard:

Desertmore is a small graveyard with only three families buried here. All three families were members of the Church of Ireland. The last burials in Desertmore took place during the Great Famine or Irish Potato Famine. The name Desertmore is derived from Diseart Mór, meaning the great hermitage. An ancient church was built on this site, but by 1615 it was in ruins. Another church was built here in 1815 by the Church of Ireland. The house, farm and church were sold in 1872. Sadly, the church was demolished in 1888. Only the house built in 1780 still stands today.
