The cemetery contains the graves of soldiers killed in Morocco during the period of the French Protectorate between 1907 and 1956.
There are 2 columbariums, one completed in 1937 and the other in 1963. There are also several monuments to events and include the "Deportation" memorial, which was installed in 1953 at the initiative of the Association of French Veterans in Morocco. It contains soil from several concentration camps.
The British have an area for British, South African and Canadian pilots and sailors who fell during WWII.
The German section has 344 tombs: 120 bodies from WWI and 224 from WWII.
Originally there was a section for American military but after the war, they were repatriated. An American monument commemorates the Allied landing in Morocco in Operation Torch (8 November 1942).
Getting there:
From downtown Casablanca, take the tram in the direction of Sidi Moumen and get off at the Ibn Tachfine tram stop. After getting off, take a right upon exiting and walk to Boulevard de la Grande Ceinture (gas station on corner). Then take a left and walk up Boulevard de la Grande Ceinture past the Jewish cemetery until you come to Boulevard du Fouarat. You will be walking along the cemetery wall and when you turn right, you will then see the entrance to Ben M'Sik European Cemetery. About a 10 minute walk from the tram stop. Upon entering, walk down the main boulevard toward the rear and you will come to a round about and the military section.
