While the majority of the graves on this piece of property are fairly recent and are affiliated with the Big Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church, there are a handful of graves in an overgrown corner that date back before 1900 and are affiliated with the original Bethel Methodist Church that was founded in 1875. The site of the original church is commemorated by a marble marker that is approximately 100 feet west of the oldest graves, just across an old barbed wire fence in what is now a pasture. Local recollections believe the marker to have been placed in the 1950's by a gentleman who was the son of some of the founding members of the church.
