The first known survey of this cemetery was done by noted genealogist Dr. Allan E. Marble on September 13, 1966. He noted the name of the cemetery as “St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery” and assigned it the identifying number 10. He recorded the location as Bridgetown. However, according to accurate GPS coordinates acquired by Steve Skafte, the Nova Scotia Civic Addressing Map shows the location of this cemetery as Carleton Corner.

At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it " St Alphonsus RC" but, in the Rootsweb cemetery index, they listed the name as “St. Alphonsus Catholic Church”. They recorded the location incorrectly as Bridgetown.

Dr. Marble transcribed 34 headstones containing 51 inscriptions. At the time of his survey, he described the cemetery as being in good condition. The oldest identifiable stone is from 1860. This is an active cemetery, so additional burials have occurred since Dr. Marble did his survey in 1966.

DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is located on the west side of South Street, at Civic #93.
