The "cemetery" is located 4 miles west of Homedale off highway 201, on the Oregon, Idaho border in a rich mineral laden area of the Owyhee's called Graveyard Point. Originally called Round Hill Cemtery, the old burial ground is located at the end of Graveyard Point Road, with a short hike up the hill. The location was originally chosen in a high place, safe from washouts and floods. Unfortunately, a canal was built behind it some years later, and after an unfortunate breakage, the cemetery was completely flooded, destroying markings of graves.
A standing monument was built in the early 1950s, by local gem and rock collectors, and stands at the site reads "This monument has been erected by rockhounds from the Northwest and California federations of mineralogical societies, ye old timers mineral club and others, in memory of the persons buried here."
Five names are included on the monument:
McConnell 1896: Thomas infant 1901, Mussell infant 1901, Jack Sparks 1914, Old Uncle Billy Stull no date.
Note: the graves were poorly tended over the years, and some of the names on the monument are either missing or incorrect, leaving out several grave sites.
They have been added here, in the virtual cemetery
