There is a section at the front which is available to all, and an older section at the northern end which is very overgrown.
At the eastern side is a separate area, screened off by hedges and walls, where Nuns who were members of a religious order, The Society of The Infant Jesus. are buried.
The order established a Novitiate at Drishane Castle in 1909. A knitting school and other businesses were commenced the following year, and a Secondary School for girls opened in 1911. The School closed in 1992, and the entire was sold to a local businessman.
Over 160 nuns, and 3 lay staff are buried here.
The first burial here was of
Sr. St Jean Carpentier
in 1918
