The cemetery is a few hundred feet on the right after turning down Johnson Creek Road from Iron Bridge Road. (Formerly Negro Creek Road - named in honor of two slave children who drowned in the creek in the early 1800's)

The Rock Springs Community was settled in the early 1800s and was home to a large population of African Americans between 1870 and 1940. It was home to a Baptist church, a cemetery and Rock Springs Colored School, which closed in 1928.
