With the establishment of St Alban's Anglican Cemetery in Rockton, the larger non-Anglican community felt the need for a non-denominational village cemetery. As a result, Beverly Twp resident, Wallace MacDonald, donated a piece of property adjacent to St Alban's for a municipal burial ground.

The cemetery was first used in 1862 for the burial of George Stockwell. It came to be known as Morden Cemetery because of the work of Cliff Morden who, for many years, was the cemetery caretaker.

The cemetery, now called Rockton Cemetery, remains open and is maintained by the City of Hamilton.
