The first Roman Catholic immigrants arrived in the Tiny area from the village of Kowalowka, Buczadj Galacia in 1901-02. The first burial in the area was of Frances Bugera in 1902. In 1904, construction of a church began on the land donated by John Bieletski. This church and cemetery also served the Ukrainian Catholics in the early years, although they established their own Kowalowka Ukrainian Catholic Church and Cemetery in 1912 about one mile straight west from St Mary's. The church operated from 1905 to 1927 when a larger St Mary's RC Church and Cemetery was built a few miles to the north. When the original St Mary's Church was closed in 1927, some of the lumber from the church building was used to construct the first RC St Anne's Church in Buchanan SK.
A large memorial plaque listing 64 known burials in the Cemetery was placed on the old Cemetery grounds by the parishioners. Some of the headstones in the cemetery were photographed in the summer of 2014 and, where possible, matched to the names listed on the memorial plague. Other headstones may still be hidden amongst the overgrowth.
