Alsup Cemetery

Also known as Joseph Alsup Cemetery

Vesta, Wilson County, Tennessee, USA
Memorials 6 added (100% photographed)

Cemetery was transcribed in Feb 1976, by Rutherford County Historical Society member (as of 2013, county historian emeritus) Ernie Johns. It appears to be the family cemetery of Joseph and Isabella Alsup.

Mr. Johns' directions in 1976: "Vine Quadrangle, Wilson County. 1/2 mile North of Vesta Road and 1 mile west of US 231 on a small hill near an old cabin. Farm of Glendon Johns."

This cemetery is not marked on USGS maps, nor on county property maps. However, it was located on/near an old gravel road that ran north from Vesta Road, crossing Hurricane Creek, and on to Jordan (now known as "Flat Woods" or "Flatwoods") Road. Hurricane Creek is a "sinking" creek, alternately above and below ground. The gravel road now dead-ends and is a private drive serving several houses.

"About four fieldstone markers" were noted in 1976.

PLEASE NOTE: Since the cemetery is on private property, contact property owner for permission to visit.
