A church at Brampford Speke is first recorded in the early
1100s
when Walter de Treminet gave it to the monks of St Nicholas Priory, Exeter.
The church was largely rebuilt in the 1400s, and again in the mid 1800s. As part of the 1852-53 rebuilding the old church was largely demolished, with the exception of the
tower.
