Staples, Guadalupe County, Texas, USA
Memorials 84 added (14% photographed)

Also known as just Staples Cemetery and, historically as Staples Colored Cemetery. There is some evidence from death certificates and known burials that it may have also been called Pleasant Rest Cemetery. This is the cemetery identified as Staples Cemetery on Google Maps (as of Feb. 2013).

From the intersection of FM 621 and FM 1977 in Staples, head south on FM 621 for 0.9 miles. The cemetery is along the roadside, on the east side of the highway (your left, coming from Staples). It is unmarked, but is enclosed by a chain link fence in poor repair. The cemetery itself is overgrown; no markers are visible from the road or the entry gate.

The 2-acre parcel of land upon which the cemetery sits was sold by brothers Q. J. and R. P. Lowman in 1905 for $150 and intended "for the use and benefit of the Ministers, and membership of the Methodist Protestant Church (Col.) as a place of Worship, and for burial Purposes".

NOTE: This cemetery should not be confused with Staples Cemetery or the cemetery under the name Staples Mexican-American Cemetery, which are also each known as Staples Cemetery.
