Staples Cemetery Mexican American

Also known as Staples Cemetery

Staples, Guadalupe County, Texas, USA
Memorials 29 added (72% photographed)

Also known as just Staples Cemetery.

This cemetery is located adjacent to the Tuttle Cemetery.

Directions: From the intersection of FM 621 and FM 1977 in Staples, head north on FM 621 for 2 miles. The road to both cemeteries is on the east side of the highway (on your right coming from Staples), and is marked with a green highway sign reading Tuttle Cemetery. Follow the road until you reach the fenced area. This cemetery is in the strip of trees to the left of the road, outside the fence. (The well maintained Tuttle Cemetery is located inside the fence.)

This cemetery is not marked and is not fenced apart from a barbed wire fence line marking the eastern boundary. The cemetery itself is overgrown and in poor condition. While a few graves have been carefully tended (likely by family members), the majority have not been. There is evidence of many unmarked burials here (including some graves that are sunken), and there are several funeral home markers that no longer appear to mark graves. Burial orientation of most marked graves appears to be on an east–west axis with heads to the west.

NOTE: This cemetery should not be confused with Staples Cemetery or the cemetery under the name Staples African-American Cemetery, which are also each known as Staples Cemetery.
