Archibald Butter took out Lot 39 Con 2 NDR from the crown on August 26 1856. On February 19 1878 he sold the farm to Angus Butter but reserved a half-acre portion on the north-west corner as a burial ground. It is a wilderness cemetery entirely in the bush on top of a hill where the roadway has been cut down about 12 feet accross the cemetery entrance.
When the hydro crossed the cemetery it was left in a mess, Alex and Lavina Stonehouse trimmed up a pathway and errected a sign. In 1985 the Stonehouse family, in memory of their mother, cleaned up the mess and erected an antique rail fence also.
There are 11 stones with 19 names that have been found.
The cemetery is the size that was left though and maybe should be looked into about to the county office.
