Add PhotosThe Roman Catholic church at this location, a municipally-designated historic building as of 1990, was constructed in Toutes Aides in what (was formerly the RM of Lawrence but) is now the Rural Municipality of Lakeshore in 1934, by carpenters under the supervision of the Dutch Jesuit Gerolfus De Bodt. It replaced an earlier church building. The cemetery beside the church dates to 1907, and a monument erected in 1984 commemorates the Bretecher pioneers.

A part of the story of the town and its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1997 is told in the volume "Opening the Door - The Past Comes Alive! -- The History of the Rural Municipality of Lawrence", especially starting on page 419. A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society, as transcribed by a member or members in 1989. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the MGS Manitoba Name Index (or MANI).
