Antioch Baptist Church was established September 13, 1823. The following is a brief excerpt from "The History of Antioch Baptist Church"
The church building was originally constructed on the property now occupied by St. Timothy Church on Rest Haven Road approximately 2 1/2 miles from The Rock and 3/4 mile from Topeka Junction in Upson County. It remained at this location until the church had dropped in attendance through deaths and dismissals. Rev. Green H. Perdue donated the present parcel of land with the agreement that the church be moved. There was not a church in this community so they agreed to the relocation, hoping that the church would again become an active light for the Lord. The members disassembled the church building, board by board, and moved it on wagons to the present site where it was rebuilt. The reconstruction was complete in 1859. The land was given in 1860 along with the Mt. Vernon Academy which occupied the area where the church cemetery is presently located.
Antioch Baptist Church is the oldest church in the Centennial Association. In 1998 she celebrated the 175th anniversary.
