This cemetery is also known as Municipal Cemetery and Cemeterio Municpal.
NOTE: There are four cemetaries right next to each other in San Narciso, one cemetery (Umaya) at the north end of the city, and one in Barangay Namatacan. They are:
Garden of the Apostles
San Narciso Catholic Cemetery.
San Narciso Memorial Park (Private)
Namatacan Cemetery
Umaya Cemetery
San Narciso Public Cemetery
It is easily confused which burial site is in which cemetery.
There is no main entrance to this cemetery, but city records indicates it is the San Narciso Public Cemetery.
The date on the gate of the municipal cemetery (see picture) indicates when that structure was constructed because when the Ilocanos started building SN, the first site they developed was a cemetery. In fact, when the casa tribunal had to be moved from Alasiis to the present plaza, our forefathers objected to no avail because they felt they would be abandoning their cemetery. Because the church was in Cabangan, they only had a chapel. In those days, they buried the dead on the church yard. Thus, It's possible that the first cemetery is somewhere in Alusiis (where the chapel was) although the people may have moved the remains of their loved ones to the new cemetery later.
