A cemetery for black citizens of Ringgold is located in the curve at the intersection of North Sparks and North Guyler Streets. It is adjacent to the Ringgold Telephone Company plant.
The information for this cemetery was published in 1998 in the book: Catoosa County, Georgia Cemeteries and Genealogy. At that time there were 9 marked and 30 - 35 unmarked graves.
The information for this cemetery was furnished by Lewis MOSS, age 93; Jethro GREEN, age 70; and Tom FLEETWOOD, age 81, on August 14, 1992. Dates of birth were derived from census records.
The St. John's M. E. Church lot was donated by the Rev. George W. CHAPPELLE, born 14 Apr 1829, the father of Eula CHAPPELLE GREEN.
A cemetery is located on the Eli Park Center property on Hwy 41, 4 miles south of Ringgold at "Suger Town." According to Mrs. Euphrie Deverall Center the cemetery contains the graves of the wife and two daughters of Paul Nicholson. The unmarked graves are covered with concrete. The property was given to the Nicholson Family by Mrs. Robert A. Calhoun. There is no seperate listing for this cemetery so I have included Emma, Hannah and Mattie Nicholson in the Ringgold Cemetery with their husband and father. D. Skramstad
