From US 72, turn north on Lauderdale 51, known as the Betty Ann Highway. After a hundred yards or so, cross over a small bridge that spans Simpson Creek. In another hundred yards or so, turn right onto a private driveway. The cemetery was on the right of that driveway a few hundred yards. The house pictured is the old Simpson house as it appeared in about March 1985. It is no longer there.
Information from "Cemeteries of East Lauderdale County, Alabama," published in 1996 by Friends of the Rogersville Public Library:
This cemetery is about 2.5 miles west of Rogersville and north of U.S. Highway 72 on the John Howard farm. It is a private family cemetery but vandals have destroyed the tombstones. Dr. Drury H. Cox built a two story house near here for his home. Today, it is known as the Old Simpson House. At one point in time, the Old Huntsville Road, U.S. Highway 72, ran by the house. Later the Capshaw family owned the land. John S. Simpson married into the Capshaw family and through the Capshaws, it went to the Simpson family. Information furnished by Eletha Howard, Margaret Howard Williams, and Hildred M. Porter.
