James and Sarah Whitehouse came to Kentucky 1787 from Fauquier County, Virginia, and settled near head of Scrubgrass Creek, which empties into the North Rolling Fork near KY 243 and Wards Branch Road. In the late 1940s Beckham Edwards owned the old Whitehouse land, which is about four miles up the creek. The graves once marked by field stones can no longer be located. It is not known who or just how many of the Whitehouse family is buried here. Older generations of the family knew that James and Sarah, and their son Benjamin Whitehouse and his wife Mary Ann Sparrow, daughter of Henry Sparro and Lucy Shipley Hanks, were buried here.
