The Outagamie County Cemetery is located on the former grounds of the Outagamie County Asylum for the Chronic Insane. The cemetery was used to bury 133 residents of the asylum whose bodies were not claimed by their families. The first burial was in 1891, and the last was in 1949. There were few markers in the cemetery, and all of the remaining markers were removed in the 1940s.
A restoration of the cemetery began in 2013, culminating in a dedication of the cemetery on Sept. 24, 2015. The cemetery was landscaped, a path was built, and a bench with a pergola was installed. The cemetery was surveyed to locate burial sites, four row markers were placed, and a new monument was erected with a list of the names of each of the 133 people buried there.
Access to the cemetery is by a path that can be entered from a parking lot west of Brewster Village, which is on the former site of the asylum. The cemetery is located past a road used for training by students of the nearby Fox Valley Technical College.
