I am familiar with the particular cemetery on Kauai (although locals know it as "the Portuguese and Filipino Cemetery" and not as the "Kilauea Catholic Cemetery" - so that threw me at first).
Just making sure I was going to the right cemetery was an involved production. The Catholic Church in Kilauea is St. Sylvester's. There was a phone number listed but no one answered any calls over several days. I noticed on the Internet that it said that St. Sylvester's was a branch or "mission church" of St. Catherine's in Kapa'a, Kauai. So I called St. Catherine's and finally reached a live person. She told me that since St. Sylvester's was operated out of St. Catherine's, there was no staff to answer the phone there.
The lady at St. Catherine's additionally told me that the Catholic Church on Kauai does not maintain a cemetery in Kilauea and that she had no idea what was meant by "Kilauea Catholic Cemetery". However she did give me the name and phone number of a church member in Kilauea who would know the local "scene".
I called that person and she said no, there was no Kilauea Catholic Cemetery but there was an "almost abandoned" cemetery in Kilauea referred to as the "Portuguese/Filipino Cemetery". She said the Catholic Church had no role with this cemetery. She also said that an older gentleman had been maintaining a listing of who was buried there but that he had died recently and no one knew where his list was. I am actually familiar with the "Portuguese/Filipino Cemetery", having visited it once before.
