Location: US Hwy 17 North, go 13.4 Miles, turn right on Pine Harbor Rd., go 0.1 mile and turn left on Young Mans Rd. Go 4 miles, keep right on Shellman Bluff Rd. for 0.7 mile (across White Chimney River). The Cemetery is on the left under an oak tree.
History: An 1848 plat shows the Shaw, Forbes and Wallaces on adjacent properties on the East sde of the White Chimney River. In the 1850 McIntosh Co. Census Joseph Durant, age 18, whose parents had apparently died, was living with William Todd. He married Wm. J. Cannon's daughter, Susannah Elizabeth, in June 1854. Joseph Durant, it appears, lived on and managed Forbes' Plantation as well as others in the County.
His wife died after the birth of their son.
