The first known survey of this cemetery was done by noted genealogist Dr. Allan E. Marble on June 5, 1971. He noted that the cemetery was associated with the Union Church and assigned it an identifying number. For this cemetery, the number was 99. He recorded the location as Wilmot.

At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it "Union Church Cemetery" but, in the cemetery index, they listed the name simply as "Union Church". They recorded the location as Wilmot.

Today the church is known as "Wilmot Baptist Church" and the adjacent graveyard is known by the same name.

Dr. Marble transcribed 103 headstones containing 187 inscriptions. The oldest identifiable stone is from 1843. This is an active cemetery, so the number of headstones is now greater than Dr. Marble's count in 1971. At that time, he noted that the headstones were in good condition.
