Located in Jefferson Township, Linn County, Missouri, SE 1/4-NE1/4, Sec 4, T-57, R-20. Start at the intersection of U.S. Highway 36 and Missouri State Route FF, about 2 1/2 miles west of Brookfield. Go west on 36 about 1/2 mile and turn right (north) on a gravel road. Go north 1/2 mile and turn left (west) on another gravel road. Go west about 500 feet. The cemetery is about 35 feet north of a fence and consists of the one stone and a concrete pad.
Walked and copied by Robert and May Bartee Couch 26 July 1992. They only found the following one stone, for Sgt. Earl.
Many years ago, there were more stones here, then the cemetery was destroyed. We were told the rest of the stones are buried, and exact location of the buried stones is not known. Over the years other people have given us the information here, for the missing stones.
Some of the information comes from Mr. Gerald Dean Maxwell, Rt. 1, Brookfield, MO. This is his great grandfather, does not have a stone, and may never have had one. Mr. Maxwell stated that this great grandfather was laid to rest 2 miles east of Laclede, Missouri, on Old #8 Highway, the above location of this cemetery.
According to Carroll Maxwell, from Dallas, Texas, who is also descended from the Maxwell family, Joseph Maxwell is also buried in this cemetery. Joseph was the husband of Martha Maxwell. No dates are available for Joseph.
