Daniel Boone’s trailblazing party was attacked by Indians during the construction of Boone Trace in the spring of 1775. Captain William Twitty and his slave Sam Twitty died as a result of the attack and were buried at the location, which became known as Twitty’s Fort or Little Fort. A marker was placed at the location by the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1937, which is about 100 yards west of the intersection of Golden Leaf Boulevard and Cady Lane. Additional historical markers are located near the intersection of Duncannon Lane and Golden Leaf Boulevard, which were moved from other locations in 2016.
