The town of El Cerrito is a very small town in the Pecos River canyon, on a bend of the river where is enough land to support agriculture. As I drove thru the town and crossed the river to the N side, I wondered why the citizens had placed their cemetery on the opposite bank of the river. When I arrived at the cemetery I saw the beautiful overlook of the town and canyon, and decided that was a very good place for the cemetery. Plus, I'm sure that the town was also conserving river bottom land for agriculture.
There are about 75 graves, some of them recent, on the acre that comprises the cemetery.
