The Swartwood Family Cemetery is in the northwestern part of the hamlet of Swartwood, in the town of Van Etten, Chemung County, New York. It is often called the "Cayuta Creek Cemetery". It is situated on the bank of Cayuta Creek, between the creek and the tracks of the Lehigh Valley Railroad, it measures about 75' x 150'. The cemetery is in deplorable condition, the 1972 flood washed over this cemetery and left much debris in it's wake, leaving many tombstones laying on the ground. There are around 20 to 25 field stones and shale stubs scattered about the area. All tombstones that were found, were copied by Joseph and Doris Boyd on May 20th 1975.
