Search Bell Cemetery at Marshallberg:

This cemetery was established by the will of George Bell in 1794 who then owned a large section of the Marshallberg area. The cemetery is located on Moore Road and has been seemingly abandoned since the 1920s, although a substantial granite marker for three Davis burials was placed there within the last ten years, and is now the only stone marker that can be easily read. The balance of the markers have been either removed, destroyed, or cannot be read. The son-in law of George Bell was David Foote, a Revolutionary war officer in the Militia, who is buried here. The front of the cemetery has a tall DAR marker which dates from 1983 and is the only visible marker for this cemetery. This cemetery is very overgrown and is not tended, which was observed during a visit in 2016. From Beaufort NC, take US 70E to the Smyrna Crossroad and go South on Marshallberg Road (SR1347) for about 2.7 miles to Harbor Road (SR 1361). Turn right (west) and proceed 0.1 mile to Moore Road (SR1359). Turn right and the cemetery is on the immediate left side of Moore Road...heavily overgrown. The DAR memorial plaque should be visible. GPS coordinates verified 2016.
