Private Property- Do Not Disturb Owners.
Abandoned - Location Approximate.
In 1893 Thurston County Government purchased the George Washington Rutledge Farm for use as a Poor Farm. One acre was set aside for use as a cemetery for inmates who died at the farm. Currently the precise location of the cemetery is unknown as is the number of persons interred there. However, it is likely a small number as burial on the farm occurred only when no one assumed financial responsibility for interment in another cemetery.
In the early 1900s the county closed this facility and the property returned to private ownership. The county also established a new poor farm closer to Olympia, on Boulevard Rd. Afterwards the county interred deceased wards of the farm at Forest Memorial Gardens in Olympia.
