Calloway United Methodist Church was established in 1866 by freed slaves, some of whom bought land from plantation owners William Marcey and Bazil Hall, for whom they had worked. Its members formed the stable, tight-knit community called Highview Park/Hall's Hill.

Historic Notes: No records of burials in the church office, but the church's cemetery committee is working to compile them. Many gravestones toppled or hard to read; 12 grave markers have no inscription, 6 stone graves are illegible, probably many graves unmarked. Some graves moved to Colemans Cemetery (1900 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, VA) when Lee Highway was widened. Persons moved is undetermined.
