This cemetery is located on Sapelo Island in a community named Behavior. The cemetery's beginning is not known, but burials have been recorded as early as the 1870s. Sapelo Island was once owned by Thomas Spalding, and it is his slaves and their descendants that are buried here; the cemetery is still in use today. There are numerous graves marked with fieldstones and obvious depressions – as many as 100.
From the dock where the ferry lands, take Airport Road until it intersects with Airport Road. Turn right. At the fork, take the left fork to continue on Airport Road. Turn right on Cone Terrace, entrance on the right.
Just recently (June 2010) excavations revealed slave cabin ruins right against the cemetery borders and currently research is being done to locate all burials marked and unmarked.
