This burial plot is located on the east side of Gano Road, near the intersection of Allen Road, on private land. When I visited it in 1987 there was a low stone wall around the cemetery but the graves were all badly overgrown. The property owner gave me permission to search for my ancestor's stone, but it was not found. Several stones were still upright and legible, but I cannot remember any of the other names on the stones.

McCarty Farm is not the "official" name of the cemetery, but I don't know that it has a name. It was surveyed by the DAR many years ago and the names are (were) on record at the Schuyler County Historical Museum at Montour Falls. The only description I found was that it was in the Town of Dix, "first farm south of McCarty Farm" and that is why I have given it that name.

JoAnn C. Sgrecci of Watkins Glen took a survey of the cemetery in the early srping of 1985 and, using the list of burials from the museum (above), she found several of the stones and added two others that were not on the original list. She kindly sent me the results of her survey and I have used it to add the names and dates to Findagrave. Ms. Sgrecci wrote that this was actually the former Joe Nichols farm.
