St. John's Cemetery is the oldest existing burial ground in Australia.
It contains the headstone of Henry Edward Dodd, the earliest headstone in situ in Australia and his was the first public funeral in Australia. He was a servant of Admiral Arthur Phillip and Superintendent of Convicts at Rose Hill.
Many of Australia's pioneers are buried here as are many who arrived on the First Fleet.
The cemetery is surrounded by an historic brick wall.
