This was the 'home-town' to which returned former residents Robert Wilkinson, Ed. Harding and W. Crosby soon after the latter's son, 29-year-old W. B. Crosby, was laid to final rest beside the small brother who had become the first occupant of Rivers cemetery; where slept two children so recently taken from Mr. and Mrs. John Lindsay. This the earthly scene from whence septuagenarian Charles Wilfred Baker departed as the old year gave way to a new. [1917]

Established in 1911.
Rivers got its start about 1907. At the beginning most burials were made in the Pettapiece Cemetery. About 1910 Daly Municipality purchased land from local farmers and the village of Rivers took over early in 1911. The first burial was the small son of Mr. & Mrs. W. Crosby; 6 young girls carried the casket. The area was fenced by Mr. W. Doncaster.
The cemetery is fenced and mainly surrounded by lilac bushes and some maple. The natural prairie grass greens are well-kept and stones are in good shape after some 70 years.

As noted above, a part of the community's story, and those of its inhabitants, from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1963 is told in the volume "The Story of Rivers -- Prepared to Celebrate 50 Years of Town Incorporation", especially on the cited page. A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #0108), transcribed by a member or members in 1980. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI). Some additional information is contained in the 1996 MGS publication "Carved in Stone: Manitoba Cemeteries and Burial Sites" (revised edition, Special Projects Publication, 106 pages).
