Old Ridgely-Worthington Estate (Defunct)

According to the 1908 book, "Historic Graves of Maryland and the District of Columbia", this cemetery is described as being "nearer by several miles than "Belvoir" to Annapolis, and reached by a slight deviation from the same road, lies the old Ridgely-Worthington estate that has been divided into several holdings. The old family graveyard has been more than usually abused, and one may say in this case profaned, in that a rough cellarless cottage was built on the site some 20 years ago over the actual graves, many of the footstones still remaining upright in the ground and under the floor of the house."

It goes on to say that the tombstone of Henry Ridgely II was being used as a step to the cottage, and was removed to St. Anne's in Annapolis in 1899, as his tombstone had been broken in half by the wheels of wagons going over it.
