Brill is ten miles west of Aylesbury and a mile from the Oxfordshire border in the west of central Buckinghamshire, t Formerly it lay within the part of Bernwood Forest known as the Forest of Brill by the 13th c. The village of Brill clusters around a junction of minor roads and is on a limestone hill. All Saints Church is at the centre of Brill, the Green is to the south of the church, and the village square with its 16th c. manor house west of the Green. All Saints is a large, low church with an aisled and clerestoried nave with a 19th c.-20th c. timber south porch, a low west tower and a chancel with a 19th c. north vestry. Construction is of rubble, but the nave and aisles have a grey mortar render. In 1888, J. Oldrid Scott rebuilt the entire church, incorporating some of the older work. The nave dates from the early 12th c.; part of a blocked round-headed window is still visible above the 19th c. tower arch and the lateral doorways have been reset in the aisle walls. The aisles are wide and low with low-pitched roofs and 4-bay arcades in a Perpendicular style. In 1839 the north aisle was added. The south aisle is J. Oldrid Scott's work. The chancel also contains a blocked lancet of c.1100 on the north side. It was extended eastwards by Scott, who installed the old c. 1400 east window of c.1400 above his own. The stubby west tower is 15th c. and of rubble; Its lead spike is mostly concealed by Scott's plain parapet.



From the 12th century to the 16th century, the church of Brill was a chapel of Oakley Church , but since Brill was a royal manor and Oakley lay within its parish boundaries, sometimes it was treated as if the relationship were reversed. According to a charter of Stephen, since the Confessor's time, Brill church had belonged to the priory of St Frideswide, Oxford. Presentations were made to Brill in the 13th century and 14th century that included Oakley. It is now part of the Bernwode benefice, (Ashendon, Boarstall, Brill, Chilton, Dorton, Ludgershall and Wotton Underwood).
