The Calhoon family burial ground is now a "forgotten" cemetery in Northwest Green County. It was established in March 1830 with the death and first burial of James Calhoon, who emigrated from Ireland in 1787. Since 1830, nearly fifty burials were interred in the cemetery; the last one being buried in 1953, the name is unknown, according to Mrs. Dorothy Perkins Wright.

The burial ground is located West of Summersville along Highway 323 (the old Lexington-Nashville Road), near the small village of Gabe, and about 1/4 mile Northeast of Gabe. The cemetery is located on the farm of the late Grady McCubbins, about 200 yards East of the McCubbins farm house and buildings. The cemetery is situated on top of a small knoll with several old trees growing on the knoll.

In 1987, Larry Calhoun of Glasgow, Kentucky stated that several limestone field rocks were still in place marking several graves. The cemetery has not been fenced for decades. Today, in 2011, only two fallen marked stones remain visible (James E. and his wife, Mary E Mays Calhoon). The list of individuals who were buried within the Calhoon family cemetery were obtained from Green County obituaries, death certificates and Calhoon family histories.
