Was known earlier as Bertolet's Meeting House. On October 27, 1877, it was remodeled and enlarged and dedicated as Bertolet Union Church. The service was officiated by Rev. A. Shultz and others. The building was originally erected about 1842 by Daniel Bertolet, as a non-sectarian place of worship. A stone structure, It has been enlarged to 39 by 61 feet. It was built in the old style, with oaken floors, and wooden benches without backs. The adjoining six acres of ground were set apart as a non-secterian burying ground, and subsequently incorporated as the Union Church Cemetery. Preachers of the Dunkard, Wenebrennarian, Mennonite, and other non-church associations, have held forth in the meeting house on different occasions to large congregations. N.D.S.
