Add PhotosLocated on Gary Cemetery Rd. off Military Rd. or Roaring Spring Rd at the other end. The Thomas Dawson house, built in 1816, is about midway on this road. Lora Goodwin's book on the Goodwin and Dawson families which is in the Kentucky Historical Society Library in Frankfort, says that the cemetery is in back of the house. There were tombstones there as late as 1960. The road now is marked "private" from the Military Rd. entrance so you may have to enter from Roaring Spring Rd. I haven't been able to walk around back of the house to try to find it.
The Thomas Dawson Farm Cemetery is across from 766 Gary Cemetery Road, 400 yards south of the still-standing 1816-1817 Thomas Dawson house, along the fence-line between fields, at the curve, in the trees, in a thumb-like projection in an otherwise rectangular field. Permissions were granted on 20 Nov 2023 by the homeowner (Toombs) and both field owners (Brame & Brandon) to visit and rescue and restore the cemetery, and to arrange for a SAR patriot grave-marking ceremony for the Rev War veteran, Pvt. Thomas Dawson.
