Old abandoned lost Cemetery on west side of Bayou La Batre bayou near Tait's hammack used to have headstone but the 1906 Hurricane damaged the trees, blown over on markers and broke all the headstones to pieces, some old wooden one faded away after 150 years and more, this cemetery dates back to late 1700s 1780s , they stopped using it in about 1850s and started Odd Fellows, a few people were buried there afterwards but not many , this cemetery is one of the 3 or 4 oldest cemeteries in Alabama , well over 200 years old , there are a few unknown Civil War soldiers there as well. The old stones were in french per the late well known Phd Yates Simonson local Historian.

It was said by the old people that the older headstones were in french and that funerals back in the old days there were from a boat , they would bring the Coffins by boat down the Bayou for burial
